Use case

Documents and Drafts, out loud, then in order.

Get a first draft out of your head and onto the page, then refine it with a custom template.

Starter spell: The Outliner · suggested ⌃⌥3

The moment

You know what to say. The blank page is the slow part.

The blank page is the bottleneck, not the writing. You already know what you want to say - the fastest route to a first draft is saying it out loud and letting a template put the structure underneath it.

You say
“Notes for the product spec - offline mode first, sync conflicts resolve last-write-wins, error states still need designs, and we owe legal the data-retention answer.”
It lands as
A structured outline with your points grouped under short headings - a skeleton you can start filling in immediately.

The Outliner is the starter template that turns a spoken brain dump into a working structure - copy it from the library or write your own in the app.

One recording, both versions

Say it like this. Send it like that.

The raw transcript on the left is what Whisper hears. The right is what lands at your cursor. History keeps both, with the audio, on your Mac.

Raw transcript

notes for the product spec, uh, offline mode first, sync conflicts resolve last write wins, um, error states still need designs, and we owe legal the data retention answer

Whisper heard every “um”.

Product spec notes

Scope • Offline mode first • Sync conflicts resolve last-write-wins

Still open • Error states still need designs • We owe legal the data-retention answer

Pasted at your cursor · both versions kept in History

How it plays out

Four beats, no typing.

  1. 1

Put your cursor where the text goes

Any Mac app with a text field: mail, chat, a doc, a form. WhisperWizard remembers which app was in front.

  2. 2

    Press ⌃⌥3 and talk

One hotkey starts the recording and picks The Outliner. Speak the way you would tell a colleague.

  3. 3

    Press ⌥Esc to stop

Whisper transcribes on your OpenAI account, then the spell's prompt runs on the transcript.

  4. 4

It lands, your clipboard comes back

The text is pasted where your cursor was, your previous clipboard is restored, and History keeps both versions with the audio.

Control Option 3

The Outliner

Turn a spoken brain dump into a structure you can write from.

Turn this stream of thoughts into a structured outline. Group related points under short headings, use bullets, and keep my own wording where it is already clear. Add nothing I did not say.

Tips

Get more from every take.

  • Talk in any order

The Outliner groups related points under headings, so you can say them as they come.

  • Keep the raw take

History keeps the original transcript beside the outline, so nothing you said is lost to the structure.

  • Write into the skeleton

Land the outline in your doc, then dictate each section in place with plain ⌥⇧Space dictation.

Questions

Asked out loud.

Which apps can the draft land in?

Any Mac app with a text cursor: a word processor, a notes app, a browser doc. WhisperWizard pastes the text the way you would with ⌘V, which needs the macOS Accessibility permission.

Can I dictate without a template?

Yes. ⌥⇧Space starts a plain recording and ⌥Esc stops it; Whisper's text is pasted as it was transcribed, with no prompt applied.

Five more

Other ways to skip the typing.

All six use cases

WhisperWizard is macOS only (10.13 or newer on Intel, 11 or newer on Apple Silicon) and runs on your own OpenAI API key - your recordings go straight to OpenAI, we never see or store them on our servers (History keeps its copy on your Mac). The honest comparison says when built-in dictation is already enough.
