The features

One cast, six parts.

Say it, cast it, done. Each part of that motion has its own page: what it does, how it really works, and where it stops.
  • 01

    Templates

Your own prompts, each one a spell you can read, copy and rebind.

  • 02

    Hotkeys

Record, stop, open the palette or cast a template from any app.

  • Sheet of paper on a dark wooden table with glowing purple audio bars, a curved light trail, and a spark
    03

    Auto-paste

Text lands where your cursor was, and your clipboard comes back.

  • 04

    History

Every recording kept on your Mac, original and processed side by side.

  • 05

    Your own key

Audio goes to your OpenAI account. No server of ours in between.

  • 06

    How it works

Record, transcribe, shape, paste: the whole pipeline in four beats.

The spec sheet

Every capability, nothing hidden.

The full list, straight from what the app does today. If it is not on this list, WhisperWizard does not do it.

Capture

say it

Global record shortcut
⌥⇧Space starts a recording from any app; ⌥Esc stops it. Toggle, not hold.
Floating recorder
A small recorder window with a live waveform, so you can see it listening.
Any language in
Whisper detects the language you speak; there is nothing to set.
Multi-display aware
Windows open on the display you are working on and remember their place.

Shape

cast it

Unlimited templates
Write as many prompts as you like: name, prompt, icon, colour, model, shortcut.
A hotkey per template
⌃⌥1 to ⌃⌥6 by default. One key records, runs that prompt and pastes.
Template palette
⌥Space opens a searchable palette: type, arrow, Enter.
Six built in
Six starter spells on ⌃⌥1 to ⌃⌥6, each one readable and free to copy from the Spellbook.
Model per template
Each template runs on the OpenAI model you pick for it.
Raw dictation
No template? Whisper's text is pasted as it was heard.

Land

done

Auto-paste
Re-focuses the app you were in and pastes at the cursor.
Clipboard restored
Whatever you had copied is put back after the paste.
Copy instead
Copy any result to the clipboard from the app or from History.

Keep

kept

Recording history
Every recording, its original transcript and the processed text.
Replay
Play back the audio of any recording; delete the ones you do not need.
Local only
Audio and history live on your Mac, in the app's own folder.

Run

quietly

Menu-bar app
No Dock icon. A tray menu holds templates, recording, history and settings.
Your own OpenAI key
Transcription and templates run on your account, billed by OpenAI.
Auto-update
Checks GitHub for new releases and asks before it updates.
Apple Silicon and Intel
Two notarized builds: Intel for macOS 10.13 or newer, Apple Silicon for macOS 11 or newer.

What it does not do

  • Windows, Linux, iPhone

Made only for the Mac. There is no other build.

  • Offline or local models

Transcription and templates run on OpenAI, so it needs a connection.

  • Meeting notes

It records you, on purpose, one thought at a time. It does not join calls.

  • Team plans or SSO

One license covers one, two or three of your Macs. That is the whole model.

  • A free trial

There is none. Every plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee instead.

  • Work without your key

No OpenAI API key, no transcription. Setup takes about two minutes.
